"Limited Edition Giclee Prints"
by Canadian Artist Lind
Art training / experience / background:
Lind studied art at Central Technical Institute in Toronto for 4 years and developed a traditional style of painting portraits.
For 30 years, Lind focused on this form of art. Her paintings are hung in boardrooms and homes across Canada, and in South Africa and Austrailia, where she was invited to paint her portraits.
In the last 10 years, Lind's work evolved into a new style, when she developed the concepts and techniques of her present paintings.
Painting methods:
In recent years, the traditional techniques of portrait painting were left behind and Lind found magical people and settings gave her the scope for an imaginative approach, filled with exciting motifs and colour.
Lind uses oil paint on canvas for the original painting. Rather than paint from a posed model or photos, Lind conceptualizes a paiinting in her imagination, then proceeds with detailed sketches to allow her vision to emerge.
A great deal of planning is done before paint touches canvas, and then the painting proceeds layer by layer, until the desired vibrancy is achieved.
Giclee technique for canvas reproductions:
Giclee has become the standard term used to describe archival fine art reproduction prints. The term Gicee first appeared in 1989. It is a process of shooting millions of ink droplets per second through a microscopic nozzle, producing a seamless, continuous tone image. An image is first scanned and digitally stored in a computer, and then it is sent to a high-resolution inkjet printer for printing.
Giclee prints provide incredible detail and brilliance, and a three dimensional appearance on canvas. Giclees are printed using sophisticated calibration technique and years of experience in colour management. Using the most advanced pigment ink technology, Giclee prints have a lifespan of up to 120 years without any visible signs of fading.
